Jouvert

August 23rd, 2010

After Jouvert was diagnosed with cancer last week, his mom decided it was time for professional photos. I met the fourteen year old Lab at his home in Venice for our location session. We attempted to start our shoot in the yard, but Jouvert was having none of it, so we moved inside. At fourteen, all this old man wants to do is sleep, eat, and be loved on. He definitely receives lots of the latter! Jouvert reminded me a lot of my Buddy. He loves to curl up in his soft bed, doesn’t like to swim, and eats with every meal like it’s his last. I just loved spending the morning with Jouvert and his mom, learning more about the sweet four-legged family member while I photographed him. He was bred to be a guide dog, but didn’t quite pass the test. He was “too much dog,” his mom said. While he wasn’t right for guiding the blind, he was the perfect companion for his mom and her family. Today Jouvert is in surgery to remove the cancerous tumor from his side. It’s an emotional day for his family, so hopefully these photos will be a comfort to them while their boy is away.

Jouvert likes to cross his paws when he lays down, it’s so cute! What a gentleman.

I love his freckled nose. Don’t you just want to kiss it?

Uprinting.com Giveaway Winner!

August 20th, 2010

Random.org Winner #14

And the winner is commenter number 14! Congrats, Brandi! I’ll get you in touch with Uprinting.com so you can get your lovely 16×20 rolled canvas print soon. :)

I asked everyone who entered the giveaway to share their dog’s obsession, and here’s what our winner said: “My dog Belle is obsessed with carrying things in her mouth. It is the cutest thing but sometimes it looks like it hurts she stretches her mouth sooo big! My other dog Jacey is obsessed with looking out the window and waiting for someone or something to pass so she can bark at them.” Buddy is just like Jacey – always waiting for the UPS person to come around so he can bark at him/her!

Congratulations again, Brandi. Enjoy the canvas!

I’ll leave you all with an image of Jouvert, the 14 year old Lab I photographed this morning. Isn’t he handsome?

Synethia Rosa

August 17th, 2010

Here’s the full post from Synethia Rosa’s portrait session last week! I had so much fun photographing Synethia. She’s not just good behind the camera, she’s a natural in front of it, too. While she can rock a serious face, she can also make some crazy/silly faces. You won’t see those in this post, though, because I didn’t want to embarrass her. Well, I don’t know about you, but I would be embarrassed if someone put pictures online of me making crazy faces. Not that I make crazy faces or anything, of course…

Anyways, it was wonderful to hang out with Synethia again. I think we were both a bit nervous about the shoot. She was nervous to be in front of the camera (even though she’s fabulous at modeling!) and I was nervous to be photographing another photographer. But laughter made those nerves vanish, and I think we both did a pretty decent job. See for yourself. :)

Cooper the Bichon/Shitzu

August 16th, 2010

Last weekend I had the pleasure of doing a fun mini session with Cooper, an adorable 18 month old Bichon/Shitzu mix (aka, a muppet). His mom wasn’t able to bring him to our mini session event at Pawprint Essentials last month, but thankfully we were able to work something out so Cooper didn’t miss his chance in the limelight. We started our session in Cooper’s grandparents’ backyard, but the heat quickly became unbearable and we moved inside. Cooper was such a fun little dog to work with. He’s incredibly cute, fluffy, and energetic, and he caught onto modeling very quickly!

I love his frog leg pose in the image on the left, and his fluffy bear paws on the right!

And we’ll end with one of Cooper’s favorite activities – getting belly rubs!

Thanks for a wonderful session, Jen and Cooper. I’m so happy we were able to work together!

A Giveaway! | Uprinting.com

August 13th, 2010

Happy Friday, everyone! I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for the weekend. Even though it’s going to be busier than I’d like, it’s still the weekend and definitely beats Mondays. There’s just something so nice about winding down at the end of a crazy week, forgetting to do lists and stepping away from the computer. Okay, my weekends (especially this one) involve more computer time than I’d like, but just knowing that it’s the weekend makes my heart happy. So, what better way to celebrate the beginning of the weekend than with a giveaway???

Uprinting.com has graciously offered to host a fabulous giveaway here on the Emilee Fuss Photography blog. They are a small business printing company that offer tons of products, from custom die-cut business cards, to brochures, postcards, banners, and more. The product that we’re giving away looks awesome – 16×20 rolled canvas print!

To enter, simply leave a comment. And to make it fun, share what your pet’s obsession is. One of the dogs at HSSC is totally obsessed with squirrels (and almost got one today), so she gave me the idea. Buddy’s obsessions are lizards and shiny lights (it all started with one laser a few years ago, and he hasn’t recovered yet).

**The not-so-fine print** You must be a US resident (sorry international readers!) and be at least 18 years old. I sympathize with my not-yet-18-year-old readers. I used to hate not being able to enter contests because of my age. But your time will come, lovely people, it will. :)

Contest ends in one week, on Friday, August 20th at noon EST. The winner will be randomly selected using random.org and will be posted on Friday evening.

I can’t wait to read your comments, everyone! Have a fabulous weekend!
