Olivia Jane would like to remind you all that a great cure for a case of the Monday blues is to get outside and play with your dog. Throw a stick, take a walk, go for a swim, chase lizards, or just sit together and relax. Trust us, it helps. :)

![]() ![]() Happy Friday, everyone! I had more film developed yesterday and am loving the results. Seriously, I could go on and on about how much fun I’m having shooting film! It’s all I’ve been using for my personal work over the past month. I finally got a light meter, the Sekonic L-508 (discontinued, but available on keh.com), and it has already proven to be well worth the price. After reading the manual, I grabbed my light meter and tested it out using my D700, so I could see the results instantly. Once I was satisfied with how things were looking, I put it to work with my film camera and shot a roll of Kodak Portra 400, using Olivia Jane as my test model. Yes, Buddy and Penny are both great models (especially my Budman), but Olivia really knows how to work the camera, and has been doing so since she was a puppy. And I don’t need treats with her, just a dirty stick or a ball is all it takes to get her focused! She’s also adorable (obviously) and obedient–a photographer’s dream. Here she is… Olivia Jane on film!

![]() ![]() Today Olivia Jane turns three! It’s hard to believe that this crazy girl has been in our lives for three years now. We drove all the way up to the North Carolina/South Carolina border to pick her up, and got home with her at 2am. Buddy wouldn’t look at her for two weeks, then suddenly they became best friends. Olivia has enough energy to power a city, and can run, jump, and fly through the air like some kind of superhero. But even with all that crazy Boston energy, she’s very obedient and is a great doggy sister to Layla Grace. Since adding Penny to our family in May, things have gotten more insane when Olivia comes over to play, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Happy birthday, you stinky, crooked-toothed, wild Boston girl! We love you! These were taken when we picked up the little monster. She was so tiny and wrinkly! Ah!
![]() ![]() It was very hard to watch Olivia say goodbye to her brother (on the left). If he wasn’t about to go to his new home, we probably would have taken him with us!

![]() ![]() And I’ll end with one of my favorite Olivia photos. I had forgotten about this image until I raided my hard drives to search out images for this post. I love it.
